The IEC Youth Group strives to create events and programs for the youth of the Chicago community. The IEC Youth Group vision is to work towards and understand the teachings of the Holy Quran, our Holy Prophet PBUH and the Ahlul Bayt AS and apply them to our daily lives and grow together as a community of young Muslims.
The group’s mission is to provide an Islamic atmosphere wherein Muslim youth can interact with one another, exchange, discuss spiritual and intellectual topics. Including an ethnically diverse group of youth, the youth sessions are generally geared towards high school and college aged youths as well as others who wish to learn about Islam. Moulana Syed Mehboob Mehdi Abidi Al -Najafi leads the youth sessions. Throughout the year motivational guest speakers are invited to address the youth. In addition to conducting the youth sessions, the youths also hold picnics, sponsor Islamic holidays, and camp outings. Through a series of enlightening and thought provoking workshops, discussions and other outdoor activities, we strive to instill spiritual relevancy and help strengthen the bond amongst the Shia Muslim youth throughout Greater Chicago Area.
In order to work toward this vision, IEC Youth Group will be organizing its first annual retreat. The purpose of this retreat is to provide the youth of our community with an Islamic environment to foster strong bonds, strengthen their faith as Muslims in the West, and develop the fundamental skills to serve as the leaders of tomorrow.
